Verona Dishcloth

 A Free Knitting Pattern

I have a new free knitting pattern for you today. Last week I published a crochet dishcloth and this week its the knitters turn.

This dishcloth features a middle lace panel, that is surrounded by cabling and and a seed stitch edging. I think I will always love the look of seed stitch on dishcloths. I also love that the lace panel is only 13 stitches wide so there is not a lot of stitches that you need to memorize to make this dishcloth really look great.

Nativity Story Stockings

 A Knit E-Book

You might remember that last year I created the Bethlehem Cowl  I told the story of the nativity story through a stranded knitted cowl. This year I wanted to spruce up the charts and use them again with stockings. I took out the Mary and Joseph chart and added the wise men chart.

I have always wanted to have my own handmade stockings to hang up and bring out every year, and eventually pass them on to my kids. This year I finally accomplished getting them made. The Stockings tell the story of the birth of Jesus. They are a wonderful reminder of the whole reason we celebrate Christmas.

I used Knit Picks Wool of the Andes Yarn for these stockings. Each stocking uses 4 skeins of yarn. 2 for the main color and 1 each of the secondary colors. I love the traditional colors that I chose but there are lots of other options to choose.

Ingathering Cowl

 A Premium Knitting Pattern

When I was thinking of fall weather accessories and what I wanted to do for a pattern for October. I started thinking about all of my favorite gothic novels. Jane Ere, Wuthering Heights, The Secret Garden (if you don't think The Secret Garden is a gothic novel then you are wrong and you can fight me in the comments, jk), Rebecca and while I am making judgments on what a gothic novel is Northanger Abbey. I love sitting down to read one of them when the wind is howling around the house.  The best gothic novels come with a locked door, so hints the key in this pattern. I included it with the perfect fall colors.

This cowl pattern is easy to adapt to what you want. Maybe you want it to be wider, just repeat the chart a few more times, or maybe you would like it a little longer, just add some more ribbing. The choice is yours.

Like usual with my stranded knitting patterns this one is a paid only pattern. This insures that all my work put into making a chart isn't just copied and sent around the world without any credit. I have an introductory price for it on Ravelry for $1.00 (usd) for now until the 26th, Oct. 2020. I will be at the normal price in my other shops. Keep reading below to see how you can get your PDF and the schematics of the pattern.

Ruth's Kitchen Towel

A Free Knitting Pattern

It's been a while since I have shared a free knitting pattern. I recently made a crochet version of this towel. You can find it on Ravelry here. When I was finished with it I knew I wanted to make a knit version and so here it is.

This is the hanging kitchen towel you always wanted. It is soft with the perfect subtle texture to get your hands dry. It is constructed just right so that it will hang in place without going anywhere.  Make a couple of matching dishcloths for the perfect house warming gift.

Giles Table Runner

A Free Knitting Pattern

I love refreshing patterns, making them into something new with a fresh purpose. Some of you might recognize parts of this pattern from my Wellsley Cowl. I changed a few stitches, added a lace border and used cotton yarn. In the end I have a really great table runner. Some times we don't need a new thing, we just need a new perspective. I love how this pattern turned out. It also helps that I love the color yellow. I think this would also look really great in a neutral color or going bold with red.

If you are looking for a crochet table runner this one here has a very similar look to this one.

Hubbub Hat

A Free Knitting Pattern

If you follow along on my Instagram account you will know that I have started learning how to make stranded work. I have really had a lot of learning this new skill. Since I also crochet it has been fairly easy for me to figure out how to use both of my hands at the same time, and I'm getting pretty quick at it.

This pattern design was a quick idea that I charted out with Stitch Fiddle. I wanted a pattern to try that wouldn't have a lot of yarn floats in it. Floats were giving me trouble and they were slowing me down. This design was an answer for that.

In the pattern below it is the written out pattern. I have the PDF pattern for sale in my Shop. The PDF has the written instructions and the chart for the complete hat.

For the yarn I used Lion Brand Mandala yarn in the color troll. The colors were so fun and vibrant. They were already in a cake so all the colors were already picked for me for no fuss. For this hat I chose the color on the outside  and the color on the inside. You can do what you want. With one cake I was able to knit three adult hats. That's a pretty great deal!

Marlow Hat

A Premium Knitting Pattern

I'm so excited to have have this hat ready for you. I named it the Marlow Hat because I liked that the name started with a M and finished with a W. Depending on the the way you look at it the hat has M's or W's on the brim whichever way you look at it.

It is so fun and easy to knit up. The pattern is worked flat and shaped using short rows. If you have never worked with short rows this is a great pattern to start on.  My test knitters had no problem following the pattern and charts and one told me this would be their new go to pattern for quick gift knits.

I really wanted this hat to be versatile and easy to wear. It can be worn a little slouchy or it  can be folded over for extra warmth and comfort. The pattern also has the adjustments in it to make it more of a beanie style with no slouch or fold over. It's all up to you for how this hat will turn out.

When you purchase this pattern you are getting the written instructions for the slouch and beanie, and you will also get a chart to follow, if you like those better. This pattern has been tech edited and tested, you will be able to find the tester's project pages on Ravelry.

I also want to talk about yarn choices. The yarn I used for this pattern is Classic Elite yarns Renaissance. Some other great choices for this yarn is Stylecraft Special Aran, Lion brand wool ease, Drops Alaska, and Cascade yarns 220 Super wash Aran.

Black and Bright Blanket

A Free Knitting Pattern

I've been done with this blanket for about a month and it has already become a favorite for living room snuggling. It is just the right size to throw over your legs and stay warm.

I started planning this blanket when I saw a picture of a rug in the grocery store. It turns out that the finished blanket looks nothing like the rug, but I love that I was able to gain inspiration from it and break it into easy steps that a beginner could follow.

The only stitch you need to know for this blanket is the knit stitch (and k2tog). There are some other technical stuff about where those knit stitches go but I have all the confidence in the world that you will see how it goes and accomplish it.

The i-cord edging is maybe a little beyond beginner and it is totally optional, but I think it is worth learning and it really makes the blanket have a professional finish. I have some tutorials that can help you learn how. You can see those tutorials Here!!!

Pattern Instructions

Squares: (make 12)
Cast on 24 stitches with the black yarn using your favorite cast on keeping it loose.

Rows 1- 48: k in each stitch, turn.

Row 49: switch to a bright color k in each stitch, turn.

Rows 50- 57: k in each st, turn.

Cast off keeping it loose

Turn your work 90 degrees working down the side of your rows, pull up 24 stitches with a bright color in the valleys of  the stockinette rows. (make sure the top of your work is facing up)

Rows 1-8: k in each st, turn

Cast off keeping it loose

Now we are going to close up the square notch.

Row 1: With your work facing up and using the white yarn, pull up 4 loops down the rows of the first bright section completed, pull up a stitch in the first stitch of the second bright section completed, turn (5 loops on the needle)

Row 2: K2tog, k 3, turn

Row 3: k 4, pull up a loop from the next row of the second bright section, turn.

Row 4- 7: repeat rows 2 and 3

Row 8: repeat row 2

Cast off keeping it loose. I found it helpful to sl st into the next stitch of the bright section to better secure it. Finish off.

Sewing the Squares Together

Place the squares how you would like them making sure they are all facing the same direction. Mattress stitch all the squares together.

Weave in all your ends. (I watched a lot of T.V. during this stage. Tip leave the outside ends for when you make the edging. You can just tuck those into the i-cord)

Edging

Row 1: Starting at the bottom corner of the blanket where the black of the the squares are on that edge, cast on 4 stitches on to your needle, pick up one more loop from the row 1, turn

Row 2: K2tog, k 3 stitches, turn

Row 3: K 4, pick up 1 new loop, turn

Keep repeating row 2 and 3 until you reach the last row. Finish on a row 2, cast off.

Turn your work 90 Degrees.

With the white color yarn repeat rows 1 then continue repeating rows 2-3 for 10 rows

On row 11, switch to a bright color.  Continue repeating row 2 and 3 Until the last row

Cast off.

I-cord Edging:

Cast on 3 st with the wrong side facing up. Insert the needle in one of the corners and {pick up a new st. You should now have 4 st on the needle, push the needle down so you are now working from the other end, k 2, k2tog through the back loops}

Repeat {to} till you come to the next corner. At the corners pick up a stitch in the same space 3 times.

Go all the way around the blanket. Bind off. Weave in your ends.
