Prairie Winds Bag

 A Premium Crochet Pattern

The more I live in Kansas the more I love it. One thing that I have especially loved this year are the wild flowers. They have been so abundant this year. You can go down any road including the busy highways and just see them everywhere. There will be sunflowers, black eyed susans, cone flowers, iron weed, blue grass, queen anne's lace and many more.  This bag was inspired by all of that but especially the queen anne's lace after it blooms.

This summer before school started my family and I went to the Konza Prairie Park outside of Manhattan KS. There are no trees, just miles and miles of hills, grasses and wild flowers. When you go have to bring a pack with you so you can have water as you go, and that trip really inspired me to create something that would be functional and beautiful and represent that hike.

The Prairie winds bag is a great multi functional bag that can be used as a market bag tote, or you can pull the straps out and wear it as a pack for when you need to be hands free. The bag has a pattern of post stitches that form a floral motif in the center of the bag. Don't be to intimidated by the pattern, as long as you keep track of the stitch counts the pattern will fly off your hook.

Amalie Baby Bonnet

 A free knitting pattern

A couple weeks ago you probably saw the crochet version of this baby bonnet. It turned out so well I knew I wanted to make a knit version too.

This sweet little bonnet is so delicate and soft it makes an heirloom piece for sure. Just like with the crochet version you can make two bonnets out of one 50g skein of yarn so they make a great option for fair projects.

This bonnet is made with those twisted stitches that I love so much. You can have beautiful cabling without all the fuss of using a cable needle. I have the pattern written so that there is a running slip stitch down the sides so it makes it easier to stitch together, but if that is something new to you don't worry it doesn't change the way it looks in the end if you leave them out. One of my favorite parts of the bonnet are the i-cord ties that are attached with an i-cord edging. It just brings a whole new level of professionalism to the finished piece. If you have made anything from the Learner's curve series I did a few years back you have used these elements before.

Ingrid Baby Bonnet

A Free Crochet Pattern

I have another baby crochet pattern to share with you. This is a great heirloom piece that can be passed from generation to generation. This is not a beginner friendly pattern, but all of the techniques used to make the bonnet have been used before with patterns from this blog. I use the attached i-cord in this basket pattern here, and I use the fptr stitches in this cowl pattern here. This pattern takes me around 3 hours to make and I can get 2 bonnets (smallest size) out of one 50g. skein of yarn. I can usually find Stroll yarn for around $3.00 so this is a great project with a good profit margin for fairs.

I love the clean lines of this design. It is a simple 2 row pattern that has a big impact of texture. I hope you enjoy this pattern. On the blog you will find the smallest size which would fit a newborn to 6 month baby for free. If you would like to purchase the pattern PDF of the pattern I have it for sale for $3.00 (usd). The PDF version of the pattern has the written instructions for 3 sizes up to 24 months.
